Vida Thomas Honored with Sacramento Black Expo’s “Legacy Award of Excellence”

Mar 08, 2024

Oppenheimer Investigations Group congratulates managing partner Vida Thomas for receiving the “Black History Month Legacy Award of Excellence” at the 36th Annual Sacramento Black History Month Black Expo, the largest two-day event in California and one of the most powerful in the nation. As part of her recognition, Vida is honored as one of the organization’s Black History Maker’s From Home.

“I am very humbled to have received this award along with so many other African Americans who have done so much to promote the progress, safety and security of Sacramento’s Black community,” said Vida.  “I stand on the shoulders of giants and have benefited from the blood and toil of others who came before me. It is an honor to give back to the community that has given so much to me.”

The Sacramento Black History Month Expo is an annual event celebrating the historic signing of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, one of the most important passages of legislation since the Emancipation Proclamation. The Black History Month Legacy Awards program honors contributors to Black culture and the cultures of those less enfranchised who have paved the way for others and possess the energy and courage required to be a leader. Vida’s selection recognizes her unifying message that all people deserve justice and have equal rights. In her letter of acknowledgement, the Black Expo Committee specifically noted her achievements in building equity in opportunities that are providing fulfillment in the community, which transcend into a more sustainable Black community, and her commitment to embrace equality in all aspects of life.

Vida is a leading expert in the field of workplace and school investigations, and she leads one of the largest and most diverse law firms of its kind in California. Leveraging more than 25 years of legal experience, Vida works with organizations statewide to address and uncover root causes of conflict so that they can ensure safe and inclusive environments where people can thrive. In addition to receiving the Legacy Award of Excellence, Vida’s recent accolades include being named to the “Top Labor and Employment Lawyers” list by the Daily Journal (California’s largest legal newspaper), the “Women Who Mean Business” list by the Sacramento Business Journal and selected for inclusion in Northern California Super Lawyers.
